Karen B. Holston earned her business degree in Human Resources Management with a minor in Spanish at Long Beach State University in Southern California. She has conducted leadership, communication, and management seminars in the corporate sector when she owned her own Human Resources consulting business. She is eager to teach these job-related skills to high school students in her Career Prep course. Karen has also enjoyed teaching Spanish for a number of years at the middle and high school levels. Her strong belief in the Lord and the power of prayer compel her to intentionally pray for her students. As an advocate of home schooling, she home schooled her miracle Micah (MAS graduate in 2017) all the way through, and she was the director of a home school group south of Atlanta with over 50 families for five years. One final note of interest is that Karen competed in the sport of volleyball at the collegiate, international, and European professional levels. These combined factors inspire her motivational teaching style as she is a firm believer in encouraging her students to reach their fullest potential. The Holstons have been actively involved members at Church of the Apostles in Atlanta since 1992. Karen is very pleased to have served her family in Christ at Metro Academic Studies since 2013 and is excited to continue to do so!
