Hola! In Spanish 1B we build upon the basic foundation we developed in Spanish 1A (which is a prerequisite for this class). We continue in the same curriculum, covering one lesson every two weeks in this highly interactive and enjoyable weekly class. This course digs deeper into utilizing the fundamentals of the language by building vocabulary, conjugating verbs, and comprehending grammar concepts, while enhancing basic conversation skills through speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. In addition to the textbook activities, we also complete the following monthly projects: 1) memorize a Bible verse together in Spanish, 2) learn commonly used words from the vocabulary book, 3) make a theme-based mini booklet to practice vocabulary and verb usage, and 4) study a Spanish-speaking country and its culture. This course has an additional element of Spanish presentations given by students on topics of their choice every several weeks. Middle school is the ideal age to learn Spanish, the most widely used foreign language in the United States. Two years of this middle school Spanish class is equivalent to one year of high school Spanish.
