Metro Academic Studies

Metro Academic Studies (MAS) partners with homeschooling families by offering required courses and electives for middle and high school students. Rather than serving as a traditional school, MAS supplements home education by providing instruction that equips students to think critically, become lifelong learners, and meet state requirements.

Families have the flexibility to enroll à la carte, choosing as many—or as few—classes as best fit their students' needs and interests.

MAS is led by a Head of School and staff who oversee the daily operations of the program. Individual instructors are responsible for their curriculum, class requirements, and tuition rates. MAS is governed by a Board of Directors composed of instructors, parents, the Head of School, and a church official.

MAS serves between 150 and 200 students each year, with approximately 60% high school and 40% middle school students. The average student-to-teacher ratio is 9:1, and the average class size is 11 students.

Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Each day includes four 90-minute class periods, a 40-minute lunch period, and access to a supervised study hall.

In addition to academics, MAS provides opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, serve others, and build meaningful friendships through social involvement.

All MAS instructors hold college degrees, and more than half have earned a master's degree or Ph.D.

Our instructors bring experience from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds, including private and public schools, higher education, and the corporate world. Many also enrich their teaching through experiences such as homeschooling their own children, authoring books, military service, business leadership, pastoral ministry, and apologetics.
