Tom Taylor earned a BS in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University and an MS in Physics from Georgia State University. He taught AP Physics at Westminster High School for four years. He has also worked on military contracts through his research at Georgia Tech, developing radar and stealth technology. At a start-up company, Tom was instrumental in designing an autonomous vehicle that was up and driving the streets of Atlanta in just twelve months. To underscore his well-roundedness, he ran two marathons in Atlanta, with his best time being two hours and fifty minutes.
Tom is an accomplished international author. In his fervor to cultivate Christian community during the isolation of COVID, he began writing daily Christian devotionals and reflection books that intentionally work through a book of the Bible, with life-application questions at the end. For the past six years, he has led a science fiction book club, primarily aimed at non-believers, as another avenue to share Christ.
Tom has been an active member and an adult Sunday School teacher at Church of the Apostles since 2017. He continues to author Christian devotionals based on the Sunday School classes he teaches. He is perhaps best known for his Sunday School class on Science vs. Faith, which he now offers at Metro Academic Studies. This class genuinely motivates profound thinking and a deeper walk with the Lord. Tom is passionate about encouraging involvement, a sense of belonging, and growth within an engaging, caring Christian community for anyone God Almighty puts in his path, especially his students.
