9th Grade Literature & Composition
Georgia DOE Course # 23.06100 Grade: 9th (advanced 8th / gentle 10th) Ninth Grade Literature focuses on the study of themes and genres in literature through a Christian world lens. This class will dive into classic novels, short stories, poetry and plays that provide insight into other cultures and times as well as provide abundant starting points for writing and experimentation with language. Students in this class will be energized by the study of literary techniques and how they are used to produce great works of fiction and nonfiction. They will also learn strategies for reading and comprehending literature. In turn, they will use this knowledge to analyze and make judgments about a variety of texts through discussion, problem-solving and writing. *Because this is a combined writing and literature course, the student will need to spend roughly 1.5 - 2 hours a day, three days a week working on course materials.
