High School Forensic Science focuses on utilizing the scientific method to determine as most accurately possible events that have happened in the past. It actually applies to a number of fields such as archeology, insurance and risk management, the origin of living things, as well as most widely applied in criminology.  The course surveys key topics in forensic science, including the application of the scientific process to forensic analysis, procedures and principles of crime scene investigation, physical and trace evidence, and the law and courtroom procedures from the perspective of the forensic scientist. Through classroom, textbook, and online lessons; virtual and hands-on labs; and analysis of fictional crime and historical scenarios, students learn about forensic tools, technical resources, forming and testing hypotheses, proper data collection, and responsible conclusions.  Forensic science is really about applying the scientific method to real world events utilizing various fields of science.

Textbook and materials will be provided by the instructor.

Prerequisites:  Ideally students will have a background in physical science, biology, and algebra.

Tuition:  $90/mo OR $392/sem OR $775/yr

Lab Fee:  $150 due Aug 17 due to earlier start date
