The drama performance class will perform a full stage show each semester. All students who enroll in the class will receive a speaking role or, in the case of the musical, a singing, speaking and/or dancing part, depending on their desire. The fall show will be a straight play (non-musical) and the spring production will be a musical. The emphasis of the course will be on character development and acting technique. The course will also emphasis the responsibility of all artists to maintain a respect for Biblical truth when participating or supporting the arts in our culture. Students can enroll for one or both productions based on their availability. There will be a preliminary general audition for the entire year during the second week of school in the fall. This audition will be for the purpose of casting the fall production and choosing the spring musical selections. Please note that inability to attend the general audition will not preclude a student from participation in the spring musical but the audition is encouraged. There will be second audition in the spring. Extended Wednesday rehearsals (ending at 5:30) begin 4-6 weeks before the fall and spring performances. Production fees include the majority of the costume and scripts. Plays selection may vary based on enrollment in each semester.
Plays being considered for 2020-2021 are:
Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Taming of the Shrew and A Midsummer Nights Dream (Fall). November 8-14
