Spanish 2
Spanish II will build on the foundation of Spanish I, emphasizing communication about the past and future. We will maintain the goal of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Activities include reading, online work, games, songs, skits, and storytelling. This high-energy, multi-sensory class will examine various aspects of culture through material comprehensible to students as well as a variety of artistic media. This course is designed to be completed over five days each week: one day of class attendance and participation and four separate days of homework. Homework will require at least 30 minutes per day, four days per week. Assignments include watching and practicing with several online resources, writing original compositions, reading, completing worksheets, and producing projects implementing art materials and technology. Those who complete three semesters of Spanish with an A average and demonstrate appreciation for Spanish language and culture by fulfilling tasks set forth in the course syllabus are invited to join the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, the national honor society of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Summer homework preparation for Spanish II consists of viewing entertaining Spanish videos. Reliable Internet and email are essential for Spanish homework.
