Who is this class for? This class is for spring sophomores, juniors, and seniors looking to strengthen their reading and writing skills on standardized exams like the SAT and ACT, and students who want to master the strategies required to perform well when taking a timed, classroom-style test in a safe environment. Welcome to the test-taking training grounds! - Students will work on SAT/ACT-style reading passages and writing questions for familiarity and to improve comprehension, grammar, and analytical thinking.
- Students will work through practice units to get comfortable with test-taking and to see the types of questions presented on a standardized test. Students will access SAT Reading and Writing | Test prep | Khan Academy and take in-class practice tests.
- This class is about MORE than just understanding how to take the reading and writing portion of the SAT or ACT. Instead of focusing solely on content, students will learn to become better test-takers by learning how standardized tests are designed, how to look for patterns, and how to make decisions quickly without second-guessing themselves.
- To build confidence, students will have a semester-long project: The Test-Taker Playbook, a personal strategy system to help them master decision-making under pressure.
Tuition: $350/semester (Does not include MAS registration fees.) 5 students minimum - 15 maximum
