Middle School Drama
Welcome to the Metro Conservatory and the art of acting! This class, like our high school ensemble, Metro Players, is intentionally structured to explore, expand, and refine each student’s natural gifts. Throughout the year, students will train in a variety of vocal techniques designed to add strength, clarity, variety, and color to their speech. We will also focus on relaxation techniques, physical awareness, purposeful movement, and the development of complex and compelling characters. During the 2026–2027 school year, our main stage production will be a one-act theatrical performance presented in the spring semester. Important dates include:
Following the production, we will dedicate the remainder of the semester to improvisation training and the preparation of audition monologues. Every student enrolled in the class will receive a speaking role or, in the case of optional musical scenes, a vocal part according to interest and desire. Students will be expected to work diligently toward full memorization of their scripts. As artists, we recognize the responsibility to uphold and reflect Biblical truth when participating in and supporting the arts within our culture. Students are expected to interact with one another in a respectful, encouraging, and professional manner. Scripts will be adjusted if necessary to ensure appropriate content. Enrollment is limited to students in 6th through 8th grade. Please note: No electronics are permitted in drama class. Parental assistance is a crucial component of a successful production. Parents should anticipate opportunities to serve in various capacities. Volunteers will be especially needed during rehearsals on March 6 and 19, as well as during performances on March 20. Parents may also be asked to assist with classroom supervision as needed. Tuition and Fees: $390 per semester $75 supply fee per semester Total due at the beginning of each semester: $465 The supply fee is our only budget and supports theatre rental, props, set construction, and costumes. Sibling Discount: 50% off tuition for siblings of full-pay students. Scripts and the majority of props will be provided. Most costume pieces will also be supplied, though some items may be the responsibility of the student. PLEASE NOTE, there will be no class on January 6th or April 28th. |
