Course Description:

This fun and engaging Creative Writing course is designed to spark imagination and build confidence in young writers. In Creative Writing, students experience the joy of writing and reading in an enjoyable and engaging way. They strengthen their analytical reading skills by exploring creative literary works that also serve as models of excellent writing. These stories exemplify outstanding creative writing techniques, which students learn to emulate in their own story and poetry writing as they refine their understanding of writing basics.

Through a variety of writing activities—including short stories, poems, and journal prompts—students learn how to express themselves clearly and creatively. They are taught to read like writers and write like readers, helping them grow in both technical and creative ability. Whether your student already loves writing or is just starting to explore it, this course offers a supportive environment where they can find their voice and become more confident writers.

Key Topics Include:

  • Elements of a story (plot, setting, characters, conflict)
  • Writing believable dialogue
  • Creating vivid descriptions
  • Revising and editing for clarity and style

By the end of the course, students will complete a polished piece of writing to share with peers, family, or even in a classroom publication.
