Both WWI and WWII are relatively new historical topics of study for historians. With more documentation coming to light, historians can better piece together what happened and why. This class will cover why the wars were fought, significant battles, advanced warfare technology, geography, alliance systems, cultural impact, music, art, and how those left at home coped through the wars.

At the same time, as we examine the events of both world wars, we will spend time reading the literature of the day, including poetry, books, autobiographies, and essays. (These works will either be provided to students, or they can check them out from the library.)

The first semester will be dedicated to WWI, and the second will be devoted to WWII.

This class is open to mature 8th graders and all high schoolers. WWI/WWII is NOT a required Georgia history course but can be used as an elective course on your transcript. Furthermore, for students hoping to study History, Political Science, Government, or Economics at the college level, this class will provide a basis for further study. This course will enhance your student’s understanding of American and European histories and present well on a transcript.

For those wishing to use this course as a Literature/English credit, you may use the title: War and Peace in Literature on your transcripts.

Students will be enrolled in Canvas and will submit their work through Canvas. Most colleges and universities now use Canvas or something equivalent, and high schoolers must be prepared for this experience. There is no fee associated with this enrollment. Grades and all work will still be available on Gradebook, and Canvas DOES NOT replace Gradebook.

Tuition: Tuition is due on the first day of the fall semester and is $380. An additional $100.00 materials fee is due on the first day of the Fall semester. Tuition for the Spring is $475.00
