Pre-Calculus

This course will cover the topics normally covered in a high school pre-calculus course, including Trigonometry. This course is normally taken by students in grade eleven or twelve. Students should have completed Algebra 2 before enrolling in Pre-Calculus. A detailed course outline can be found at the website https://www.derekowens.com/course_info_precalculus.php 

Students MUST have a copy of the Student Workbook, either purchased from www.lulu.comor printed locally from PDF files available after registration.  Also required is a graphing calculator (TI-83/84 recommended, but Casio permitted.)

Payment can be made through Zelle, Venmo or Paypal, or by check directly to Mrs. Bandy.  Do not make payment through the Derek Owens website.

Expectations:
Students will be given specific assignments to complete each week, including lessons of material we are unable to cover together in class time.  Assignments will consist of Practice Problems from the workbook, watching instructional videos online, and written assignments.


To maximize instructional time in class, tests will be given at home. One final exam for each semester will be taken in class at the end of each semester. Students will receive a numerical grade for each semester and for the year. The grade is calculated based on tests, graded homework and the final exams.

This course will be offered at regular and Honors level.  Students may choose which they think is more appropriate after completing a chapter or two of the course.

This is a challenging class, not least because it is easy to fall behind.  Students will be expected to turn in their work in a timely manner.
