AP European History
Maximum Enrollment: 15 Minimum Enrollment: 6 Credit: 1.0 AP European History begins with the High Medieval Age and then progresses on a continuum to the 21st century. Students will be exposed to historical events and examine art, music, literature, and philosophy. The entire class will be taught from a Christian worldview, examining events and interpretations of History to assist students in becoming critical thinkers. Students must complete their work on time and participate in class discussions and presentations. Tests are a combination of multiple choice and essay to prepare for the exam, but they are not weighted. Students will complete TWO collegiate book reviews during the year. Students will be enrolled in Canvas and will submit their work through Canvas. Most colleges and universities now use Canvas or something equivalent to it, and it is essential that high schoolers be prepared for this experience. There is no fee associated with this enrollment. Grades and all work will still be available on Gradebook, and Canvas DOES NOT replace Gradebook. The textbook will be announced, as well as summer reading in the later Spring. European History is NOT a Georgia requirement for graduation. However, it does count towards a student’s GPA and displays that the student can perform at the collegiate level. For colleges that accept weighted grades, an AP class is weighted accordingly. Of note, students enrolled in the course DO NOT have to take the end-of-year AP exam to enroll in this class. The choice is up to the student and their parent. Students deciding not to sit the exam will still be expected to participate in ALL classwork. This is a rigorous endeavor and should not be entered into lightly. Tuition: Fall semester is $360, due the first day of class, and Spring semester is $450, due on the first day of class. An additional $100.00 fee for materials and MAS administrative costs is due on the first day of the Fall semester. PLEASE NOTE: The cost of the testing fee is NOT included in the cost of the course.
