This class is appropriate for all middle school students. Using the book, The Middle Ages by Dorothy Mills, as our guide, students will discover this important era in history which includes: Vikings, and villains, castles and crusades, samurai and shoguns, Dante and Chaucer. Students will have the opportunity to improve their geography, expand their communication and writing skills all while learning history. Students should expect to spend 3- 4 hours a week on homework for this class. Parents are expected to check homework with a provided answer key and are expected to help their student throughout the year to develop good study skills and habits.

There is no diagnostic test needed for entry. 

  • Students are expected to be able to read at a 6th grade reading level.* 
  • Students are expected to dedicate an hour a day to homework. 
  • Students are expected to have Gmail account.
  • Parents are expected to spend 15 minutes a day with their student to check that homework is being completed, to provide guidance, and to answer questions.
  • Parents are expected to provide needed materials for the course prior to the start of the course.


Tuition: $260 a semester or $500 a year 

Textbook required: The Middle Ages by Dorothy Mills (about $20)
