Physical Science
This Physical Science Course introduces various principles of Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy. The First Semester investigates motion, forces, fluids, simple machines, and heat. Relationships between matter and energy, time and space, input and output display the intricacies of associations in science. The timeline of various discoveries will introduce scientists and philosophers who changed history through observation and experimentation. Friction, buoyancy, mechanical advantage and heat transfer will merge the application of physics and the recognition that science is the key to progress. The second semester unites the four fundamental forces and how they are revealed in nature, research and technology. It includes the study of electricity and magnetism, atomic structure and the nature of nuclear change, along with the wonders of our solar system and galaxies beyond. Text: “Physical Science Student Workbook” by Derek Owens, semester 1 and semester 2, available on Lulu.com, self publishing. Physical Science instructional videos will be available online. Each student will receive a username and password for the instructional videos. Supplies: Calculator needed ($10.00 variety is sufficient), Loose-leaf notebook. |
