IF YOUR KIDS LOVE DRAWING FIGURES AND PORTRAITS… SIGN UP!  An excellent class designed to help young artist accurately draw the human figure and faces.  Drawing faces, legs, hands, and feet is something everyone would like to accomplish and is very challenging to any artist.  Students will learn basic to advanced classical drawing skills the old masters way.  Students will experience individual assistance from instructor.  First semester will be focused on figures using step by step instructional drawing exercises chosen for usefulness toward mastering particular skills in drawing figures by site and reference.  Second semester students will be discovering individual creativity with portraiture focusing on details of the face, eyes, nose, mouth, and hair and drawing self portraits. Also drawing head studies of old master drawings by site and references.

Students learn:

Drawing features to create likeness through accurate proportions, sketches with gestures, understanding and blocking in planes, shading for realism, drawing  shapes from life.

Our Touchpoint drawing method is a specifically designed system for developing eye and hand focusing on proportion and accuracy. Shading is a component of drawing which includes important elements of art including contrast, shape, value, texture and line.

Our exercises are building blocks for skills that prepare students for future career opportunities in design and graphic arts and building portfolio.

All students are welcome to participate in MAS annual juried art show in the spring.  Winners compete in regional and possibility of state wide competition.
