Teacher: Maren Katz
Date/Time: Monday - 10:45 AM to 12:15 PM
Recommended Grades: 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th
Department: Foreign Languages
Grade Level: High School (9th-12th)

This class is a second year high school German course and min. 1 year of high school level German is required to register.

“Sprechen wir!” (Let’s speak!). Are you ready to jump on board and have a great time learning German through practical conversation, short poems, simple Bible verses, skits, and cultural experiences (such as cooking & tasting German food, visiting with local German-speaking people, etc.)? The main focus & goal of the class is to converse in German. We will speak in German as much as possible, and only use English to explain pesky grammatical concepts.

Homework will be done mostly online, using the interactive part of the textbook and workbook. Students should allow at least 45 minutes, 5 days a week for assignments.

This class will give you a full year’s worth of high school credit plus prepares you to take the A2 German exam (offered at the Goethe Institute in Atlanta) and the National German Exam (both exams are optional and don't influence the grades but will be helpful for the future, like college applications).

Text (and online access codes) will be supplied by the teacher .

Please bring something to write (notebook and pen, plus some colored pencils and sharpener), as well as the printed materials and a prong folder to every class.

Feel free to email me with questions , I’ll be happy to help you!
