This American History course will focus on the story of what became the United States of America from the establishment of the European colonies in North America to the present.  A comparison and contrast between world views regarding American history will feature the contrast between secular humanists' view and a Christian view of American history.  Students will study the exploration and first settlements through the War of Independence and the Founding of the United States of America. Next we will analyze the fundamental nature of the United States under the Articles of Confederation, and especially under the Constitution. We will also survey the developments from the Constitution to the War Between the States ("Civil War"), World War I and World War II, to the present .  Students are encouraged to observe God's providence as we consider the forces, ideas, people, and movements that have shaped and continue to influence our country.

Class time will be comprised of lectures, group discussions, and presentations to prepare students for advanced-level college classes.

The text is A Patriot's History of the United States. The link for purchase is below. Please note we will be reading selections from the textbook, not the entire book.
