MS Chemistry & Physics
This course will introduce basic (non-math-based) chemistry and physics concepts to prepare the young middle school student for further studies in these subjects in later years. The class is designed to be extremely hands-on, with a large portion of class time spent performing fun experiments to make the concepts come to life for young minds. Topics to be covered include states of matter, atoms and molecules, crystals and polymers, acid/base chemistry, mixtures, laws of motion, energy, electricity, magnetism, and simple machines. Homework will utilize the Notebooking Journal, which includes reading assignments, vocabulary, short-answer questions, optional lapbooks, and occasional small projects. Textbook: Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics, by Jeannie Fulbright (Apologia Publishing) Also Required: Chemistry and Physics Notebooking Journal to accompany the text Recommended Age: 6th or 7th grade Tuition: $650 for the year or $75/month for 9 installments; $50 supply fee |
