The Life Science class provides a detailed introduction to the methods, concepts, and vocabulary of general biology. Topics covered include biological classification, cell biology, Mendelian genetics, tour of the kingdoms of living things, cellular reproduction and DNA, viruses, and human anatomy/physiology.  Laboratory sessions include microscope work, dissections, model work, live invertebrate animal labs, biochemistry labs, paper simulation labs, and many other kinds of labs.  Students will gain an appreciation for the amazing diversity of life on earth and of the tremendous ingenuity of the Creator. The Life Science class is structured and well managed. Instruction is engaging and inspiring. Learning is accomplished in a fun way. Each class consists of one hour of instruction and one hour of laboratory work or activity.

If you are planning to take my class for high school biology, you should wait and take it in high school. If you are not planning to take my class for high school because you may transfer to another school, etc, then this Life Science class will be perfect to prepare you for Biology. If you are waiting to take my class till high school, these are some great middle school classes to consider instead: physical science, earth science/systems, astronomy, environmental science, or forensics. Again, please do not sign up for this class if you are planning to have Mrs. Bacon for high school biology.

Students should expect up to three hours of work completed at home each week.
