Sculpture is a course which introduces the history, concepts, processes, materials, tools and techniques involved in the creation of three dimensional forms. Emphasis is placed on idea conceptualization, problem solving, tool usage and experimentation with basic sculptural processes and media related to the production of a work of sculpture.

The student only work during class no homework is assigned, we have a good time doing art and getting to know each other. Don’t worry if you have to be out of town the student will work on their project the following class.

Specifically, students will be exposed to some or all of the following sculptural processes:

1. Addition

Students in sculpture class

Working in Mosaics, adding glass to the carved forms.

2. Subtraction

Student working with insulation foam

Carving Insulation foam into desired form.

3. Manipulation

We will do different project modeling oil clay, learning about proportions and some anatomy.

4. Substitution

Metal casting is a project that the students are able to carve the design and then they can see the metal casting being done at Georgia State University during the Christmas iron pour celebrated in December.

Students will also be exposed to some or all the following sculptural techniques:

1) Assemblage. 2.) Carving. 3.) Modeling. 4.) Casting.

A class minimum of 4 students is required.

Tuition: $90/month, $30 suppy fee/month
